Building Hot Rod Street Cars

Creating a Hot Rod street car that  is street legal and ready to go is my passion.  I have started my to build my  fourth Hot Rod and I am eager to start work on my project each day. I love finding the parts and experimenting with my ideas for new ways to cut weight and improve performance. I seem’s that building Hot Rods and drag racing them is more popular now than ever. If you are now thinking or have ever thought about building your dream drag racer than I encourage you to continue reading as I am about to tell you how to do it.

First, every Hot Rod project needs to start with the fastest motor you can get your hands on. Go for the biggest fastest, most torque,  most horse power that you can get. This, after all, is what it is all about. Depending on the body that you are going to use to build your Hot Rod, you may have to make some adjustments on the size and weight of the motor you are going to use. However, once you are happy with the selection of your motor, then you need to start to think about the performance and safety of your Hot Rod. You will create a Hot Rod that will be something like a moving rocket and you need to be certain that all systems are in launch mode when you drive it. Be careful now, you will have the power to burn the rubber right off the tires. But, you need to look at the total Rod, and ask yourself if you have the correct brake system, transmission, exhaust etc. to make up for the increased horse power that you have given your baby.

While Performance is what its all about you can’t stop there and think that you have created an award winning Hot Rod for shows. If you are going for the total package your Rod needs to “Go and Show”. You will need to spend hours of your time prepping the Baby for the paint, the interior and the total show package. But, it is worth it and it will pay you back with the comments and the envy that others will have when you pull up nest to them at the next stop light. Get ready, almost everyone will want to test your Hot Rod…go easy the police may be watching you and don't forget to insure your Hot Rod, if anything happened to it you will find it very hard to get the money you have spent and your customized Hot Rod. Be smart get you insurance agent to come and give you a written quote as to the replacement value of your car.

Give us a combination of this hub and the one on building your own electric car. It's time to end the love affair with the internal combustion engine. Let's see a hub on building an electric hot rod.
